Here's a little taster from this new doc on the late, troubled New York Dolls and Heartbreakers guitarist.

Let's face it, people can wank on and on about the music, man, but part of rock 'n' roll is the myth, the mystery, and the characters who fly closer to the sun than either me or you care to dare. Why? Because there's something in them that says jump. As fans we love to buy into the story and then dissemble it. We like it when people try to peel back the layers in search of the truth—but there's rarely a concrete truth to find.

Enter Johnny Thunders: guitarist in the New York Dolls, frontman of The Heartbreakers, wild thing and troubled enigma who flamed bright and burned out, dying of alleged drug related causes in 1991 at just 38-years-old.

Pulled together by director Danny Garcia (The Rise & Fall of The Clash), this new documentary, on the Queens-born musician attempts to answer the question: "Who was Johnny Thunders?" Through extensive interviews with Sylvain Sylvain, Lenny Kaye, Walter Lure, Billy Rath, Bob Gruen, Terry Chimes, Alan Vega, Peter Perrett, Sami Yaffa, three of his late managers (Marty Thau, Leee Black Childers and Malcolm McLaren), and many others, the picture painted is certainly compelling, even if the question posed is one that's impossible to really answer.

And of course, it goes without saying that the soundtrack is kick-ass. Check out the exclusive clip from the doc above.
