Remember the Notorious B.I.G./Dinosaurs mashup that some fucking genius made? We posted it last week and, to give you a peek under the ol’ Noisey hood, A LOT of you nice internet people clicked on it. Not to geek out with the technicals here, but according to our analytics, it was a “butt-ton.” A butt-ton of people.The video quickly shot up from a few hundred views on YouTube to five and a half million views. It was so popular, in fact, that Billboard is reporting that as a result, the mashup’s featured song “Hypnotize” landed itself at number 36 on the Streaming Songs list this week, 18 years after its release. That’s a 633 percent increase. Which, again, not to get technical, is what’s called a “fuckload.”
So congrats to you, the internet, for being Power Influencers™. Congrats to us at Noisey for posting about it. Congrats to 90s nostalgia for being the lifeblood of the internet.
