Nation Demands to Know Where Kid Rock Stands on Confederate Flag

The Detroit artist has been known to rock the stars and bars on stage. Will he stop now?

Our great nation is divided over the Confederate flag at the moment. Some believe that its stars and bars are an longstanding insensitive emblem of divisive, hateful racism in America, while others have made a big stinky in their diapers because they can’t watch their TV friends on Dukes of Hazzard anymore waaahhh. But one thing the two sides of the issue seem to agree on: Kid Rock must weigh in on it at once.

Kid Rock, who is from Detroit, which is nowhere near the South, has been known to rock the Confederate flag from time to time on stage. This has never made sense and seems to deflate the whole "the Confederate flag is about heritage, not hate!" argument, because well, Rock does not have the heritage.

Now, The Detroit Free Press is reporting that Rev. Charles Williams II, president of the Michigan Chapter of the National Action Network and pastor at King Solomon Baptist Church in Detroit, gathered with a dozen of the group's members on Monday at a museum with an exhibit bearing Rock's name, and issued a statement calling for Rock to keep the flag out of his performances. He is quoted as calling Kid Rock "the hometown hero who is a zero with the Confederate flag."

Of course, Breitbart.com, the most trusted news source for people who want to believe absolute bullshit, has fanned the flames of this story to their TruckNutz-sporting readers with the headline “Civil Rights Group Demands Kid Rock Denounce Confederate Flag… Or Else.” See, the “… Or Else” part means you should be scared—scared of those horrible uh… liberals who are trying to suck the good old fashioned fun out of this country.

Breitbart’s fear-mongering seems to have worked, judging from the article's most popular comment, which, for some reason, references Stalin—104 likes.

This story is actually not a new one. Kid Rock's use of the Confederate flag has caused controversy before, namely in 2011 when some protested the NAACP's decision to honor him at a dinner, despite his displaying of the flag at his concerts and on his motorcycle helmet.

What an odd time in American history when the nation seeks the opinion of a man who once appeared in a sex tape with Creed’s Scott Stapp. But, now that we think of it, where does Kid Rock stand on this hot button issue? Truly, our country will never know peace and healing until the Rock 'N' Roll Jesus bestows upon us his verdict.
