If you haven’t experienced an Adelaide summer let me break it down for you. Hot, dry and suffocating. When the north wind blows down from the central deserts, dogs go lie under houses and everyone else lies in a catatonic state.

So it’s kind of surprising that Rani Rose and Stacey Wilson began making music as Terrible Truths in the outer suburban pockets of Adelaide. For the music of Terrible Truths is refrigerated cool. Taking in elements of late 70s and 80s post-punk, it struts and pops with a stylish charm. While everyone is jigging with sweaty brows these guys are the musical embodiment of lemonade popsicles

Though few, their releases including a long out of print EP, a split with Melbourne’s Hissy Miyake and a 7’ through esteemed New York label Mexican Summer have been well received.

“The Coast Is Clear” is a refreshing taster of the coolness to expect on their forthcoming debut album that will be delivered through drummer Jo Alexander’s Bedroom Suck label.

‘Terrible Truths’ is available October 9 through Bedroom Suck.
