Nine refreshingly offbeat speaker knockers for that ass.

Captwolf is a Detroit rap squad hoping to advance Motor City's storied history of left-of-the-dial boom bap. Last summer the group (which includes but isn't necessarily limited to rappers Groovy Armani and Young Sui flanked by producer swoozydolphin) showcased a refreshingly offbeat ear for beats and rhymes on the underrated Liquor Store Pizza Party at My Crib. Today they return with a quieter, quirkier new EP called F*CK CAPTWOLF, described by Swoozy as "a short project dedicated to the haters." F*CK CAPTWOLF pushes the group's speaker knocking bass bombs into new territories on cuts like the ghostly trap banger "garcia vega" and the drowned swag rap highlight "shiny pocket man." The project is self-produced and mastered by swoozydolphin, with the exception of "garcia vega" and closer "yeengotit." He says they're "trying to follow in the musical eclecticism of Slum Village, TDE artists, Odd Future, etc." Catch 'em at SXSW next week if you're daring. Stream F*CK CAPTWOLF below.
