Oscar Key Sung's New Single Proves That He's Probably Australia's Best Kept Secret

Electronic R&B sweetheart Oscar Key Sung has one of the most enviable CVs in the independent Australian music scene. From beginnings in Oscar + Martin and Brothers Hand Mirror, to his collaboration with Andras Fox—Andras & Oscar—and his four solo EPs, each release has bettered the last with fresher and more confident sounds.

Key Sung's most enviable quality is perhaps his ability to, while experimenting with new sounds and unnerving the listener, have each song remain a bonafide dancefloor banger. 2013's "All I Could Do" was an all-out game-changer, while last year's "P R E M O N I T I O N" saw things getting a little darker—though never losing that pop-style appeal.

Today on THUMP we premiere "Hands," a foray into darker territory still, but another in a long line of testaments to Key Sung's talents. A drippy, alluring thing, "'Hands' describes that state of succumbing to the idea that someone has powers," he told THUMP. "Where if you believe it enough they can heal you with touch, expand your ability and transcend your reality into one where people levitate and can live forever."

"The production style marks a move towards a less dreamy palette, I want to have scarier sounds in my beats. many of the note sequences and rhythms repeat in different forms speed up or slowed down like fractal modules."

Listen to the premiere of "Hands" below, and sit tight for the debut full-length LP later this year.
