Listen To New Track "Problem Areas" From Oneohtrix Point Never

The new track from Oneohtrix Point Never's R Plus Seven features uncanny visuals by Takeshi Murata.

We've already heard an exert from one of the song's off new album R Plus Seven from Oneohtrix Point Never (aka Daniel Lopatin), and now he's unveiled the first full track "Problem Areas"—an "unrelenting, machine-mitigated drive forward, marked by continuous ostinato bass that goes off the rails toward an oblique segue."

Oneohtrix Point Never

“I wanted to characterize a linear world with cracks in its edifice,” Lopatin says about the song. “One with a veneer of being breakable, but that instead just bends and stretches endlessly like rubber, preventing you from ever understanding its true properties. The proverbial ‘endless vista,' but with an end.”

And as a visual accompaniment to this idea of a linear world with a veneer of being breakable he's featured the art of Takeshi Murata, which you can see in the video above, featuring work from Murata's shows “Get Your Ass To Mars” and “Synthesizers”. The images in the video have a photorealistic look to them, but are surreal digital compositions created in Cinema 4D that give off an uncanny sheen, a too-perfect veneer that's both unnerving and attractive.
