Bake It Til You Make It: A 420 Catch-up With Ciarn from Dumb Punts

As we celebrate the international day of the green shit, we thought it would be a good time to reach out to local 420 enthusiast and musician Ciarn Gallagher to get the scoop on a few important matters, such as cures for the munchies and rocking under the influence.

Ciarn plays drums and guitars in cruisey and scrappy Melbourne-via-Bonny Hills rock trio Dumb Punts who tonight are playing a special 420 gig in Melbourne with Amyl & The Sniffers, and Synthetics.

The three piece, made up of Ciarn, her brother James and schoolmate Brent Lockhart, have been gaining momentum after a couple of releases including the 'Put A Sock In It'  7" released on Adam Ritchie's (Drunk Mums, Grotto) label PISSFART Records.

Noisey: Have you ever been too choofed to rock?
Ciarn Gallagher:  Only at praccy really, just when I get the tired high. I think it does more good than bad for playing. You get to go on musical journey man, you know man. Dude. It's so artistic.

The best stoned snack?
Toastie for sure.

'Legalise it'?
Definitely legalise it. There's too many robots who don't get it though.

The best music to listen to under the influence of the green shit?
I reckon you could listen to just about anything and it'll sound sick. But I like listening to The Memories when I'm baked. That's one off the top of my head.

Do you have any good greening out stories?
Ahh they're all good. The funniest one for me was when my gal pals from school came to my little town one Friday night and my brother brought us over a big old baseball bat and they'd never smoked weed. One of my best friends ended up spewing off a balcony and getting showered in her clothes. Classic first timer!

Do you love rockin alongside your bro in Dumb Punts?
Yeah it's pretty sick. He's a few years older than me and I used to watch his bands when I was younger and wish I could do it too and now I am, so that's super satisfying. Plus we get to travel together.
