Apparently Ivanka Trump Had a "Punk Phase"

She also liked Nirvana and wept when Kurt Cobain died.

Look, there is no easy way to break this news so let's just get into it: Ivanka Trump—daughter of human trashcan and 45th president of the United States Donald Trump—says she had a punk phase. According to The Cut, in her mom, Ivana's, recently released biography memoir, Raising Trump, which, come the fuck on with this book title, the most prized of the Trump family admits to having a "punk phase." This isn't even the punchline of the joke! Trump, in her book, says: "During my punk phase in the nineties, I was really into Nirvana. My wardrobe consisted of ripped corduroy jeans and flannel shirts. One day after school, I dyed my hair blue. Mom wasn't a fan of this decision." Ivanka, this is not punk. This. Is. Not. Punk. She continues on to say that she loved Nirvana (grunge, my girl) and that Kurt Cobain's death had a real impact on her but her mother, who could "only sympathize so much," made her leave her room and have dinner anyway.

These excerpts seem to paint the beloved Trump spawn as more… human, I think, because she, like us, once raged against an establishment. But, she seems to suggest via her mother's attempts to squash any sort of personality out of her, that she turned her life around to be exactly like her father and we can too??

Ivanka Trump's punk phase is about legitimate as her father's attempts at being a politician. An affluent white woman who literally grew up in towers talks about punk as a throwaway thing; not at all concerned with the cultural, social, and economic factors around punk as a genre and its massive historical importance. "Rebellious youth!" and "ha ha, young people! don't they do the darndest things??" are really the things I'm hearing here.
