Listen to Noire Create Some Paris Cool From a Queensland Farm

The Sydney duo did a 'bush change' for their latest album of cool pop.

The former home of the Big Pineapple, Gympie, Queensland is a world removed from the sophistication of Paris. But Sydney duo Noire's latest track "Real Cool", which was produced on a farm outside of town, pays tribute to Parisian duo Air. From the bass line, to the CS-80 synths and the track's transient feel, Jessica Mincher and Billy James do a great job at creating some French cool.

"We wrote the verses in Sydney and completed the structure, chorus and production at the farm in Amamoor", explains Jess. "Most of the songs came to us fully formed but "Real Cool" was one we really had to labour over - it took almost a year to finish it."

The track is taken from a new Some Kind of Blue album due in September on Spunk!

Jess was inspired to form Noire after seeing Miranda July perform at the Sydney Opera House. After quitting her job the following day, she and Billy moved to the farm. With no phone or internet reception they set up a makeshift studio by the fireplace and wrote an album.

'Some Kind of Blue' is available Sept 29 through Spunk!
