And the Award for "Beyoncé's Favorite Artist" Goes to...

This is kind of a big deal.

Known for not giving interviews, the elusive Beyoncé has opened up to GARAGE Magazine to talk about her love of art, on the occasion of her special-edition cover designed by Urs Fischer.

“I think defining art is a really personal thing," Beyoncé tells GARAGE. "I try not to think about it too much. It makes me think of a Basquiat quote I read somewhere that said, ‘I don’t think about art when I’m working. I try to think about life.” She and Fischer didn’t work directly together on the collaboration, but rather, it was facilitated by GARAGE’s creative team, who has a history of bringing together artists from different disciplines—this couldn’t have happened anywhere else.

From her favorite artists (spoiler alert: Kara Walker and Tracey Emin), to her inspiration for collecting art, to her international art-viewing habits, all you have to do is download the GARAGE Mag app and scan this screen to access these and more Beyoncé-isms. You can even hear an instrumental version of "Formation" while scrolling through exclusive images and quotes.

Fischer, it should be noted, has an upcoming show at the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, the Moscow museum founded by Dasha Zhukova, where the magazine gets its name.

To preorder the Beyoncé special edition, head over to GARAGE Mag’s store. The issue hits newsstands March 14.
