We never thought we'd find ourselves covering one of the Gallagher brothers so much in 2015 either, but Noel's slyly turning into a bit of a head. After revalations about his first pill and Oasis' early days of covering house records, Burnage's biggest motormouth's decided to get seriously deep and has asked balearic/fusion/obscuro-addicts Psychemagik to take his track "The Right Stuff" into seriously trippy terrain.
Coming just days after Gallagher found himself embroiled in a war of words with Avicii and Deadmau5 — he accused the former of sounding like, "an artist from the Renaissance period" while the latter came under fire at T in the Park with Gallagher calling himself, "Deadmau5 without the stupid fucking hat," — you'd have to wonder what Noel himself makes of Psychemagik's gorgeously decadent remix.
The re-work a slow motion crawl through the cosmos. A classic space-disco arpreggiated bassline anchors the whole thing, twisting and turning in amniotic fluid for seven minutes. A wigged-out solo rears it's head and the whole thing launches into the stratosphere. It's custom built for emerging out of the woods at sunrise. Check it out exclusively on THUMP, above:
It's not the first time that Gallagher's dabbled with dance music — even if he did once say, "Dance music sounds like a walk in the park now. Any fucker can do it – and quite frankly, every fucker is doing it." You, or your older brother, or your uncle who was a bit trendy once and still rocks a Kangol now, will remember his work with the Chemical Brothers way back when.
This time round, Noel's got a whole squad in to give him a helping hand. September sees the release of Where The City Meets The Sky: Chasing Yesterday: The Remixes in which Andrew Weatherall, Beyond The Wizard's Sleeve, Toydrum, Massive Attack's 3D, and David Holmes take the high flying bird into relatively unknown territory. It's available digitally and on super snazzy limited edition pink and blue heavyweight vinyl.
