We're Finally Going to Get a 'Bob's Burgers' Movie

But it's not coming until 2020.

The Belcher family is officially headed to the big screen.

Twentieth Century Fox announced Wednesday that a feature-length Bob's Burgers movie is in the works—but we're going to have to wait until 2020 until we get to see Jimmy Junior shake his beautiful butt in theaters, Deadline reports.

The news comes the same week Bob's Burgers debuted its eighth season on FOX and less than a month after the show took home its second Emmy for Outstanding Animated Series.

"We're thrilled to be invited to bring Bob's Burgers to the big screen," Bob's Burgers creator Loren Bouchard said in a statement.

Bob's Burgers has already inspired a traveling stage show and a double album's-worth of stone-cold jams, so it's only natural that a feature film would follow suit. But Bouchard acknowledged the intense work it'll take to bring the beloved series to the silver screen.

"We know the movie has to scratch every itch the fans of the show have ever had, but it also has to work for all the good people who've never seen the show," he said. "We also know it has to fill every inch of the screen with the colors and the sounds and the ever-so-slightly greasy texture of the world of Bob's, but most of all it has to take our characters on an epic adventure. In other words, it has to be the best movie ever made. But no pressure, right?!"

All those plot and animation hurtles aside, Bouchard will also have to spend some serious hours crafting appropriately genius musical numbers for the film, since it'll be hard to top that Thomas Edison song from season three or the surprisingly stirring duet from that episode where Linda gets a job at a faux-Trader Joe's.

He'll have plenty of time to get everything right, though. The movie is slated for release on July 17, 2020, so at least we'll have something good to distract us in the midst of another brutal election season.
