Kove's 'VCO' Brings Drum & Bass Swagger to the Bassline Rave

The MTA-based producer continues his quest to burst out of the underground

In barely over two years, Kove has gone from bedroom producer to the upper echelons of UK dance music. After his first release, Breach/Stellar on VIper, he landed himself a spot on Andy C's newfangled Program imprint, replete with DJ gigs at Fabric and all the trappings of underground win. Fast forward only a couple months and his haunting "Searching" drops, MTA heads Chase & Status hear it and promptly sign him up to a high-life record deal with an eye to the mainstream. By the time it hits, Kove is casually sporting a regular slot at Ibiza's Amnesia, playing the main stage at SW4 in London, and working MIXED BYs for THUMP. Success is easy!

His Measures EP was notable for the sheer variety of tunes represented on a 4-track. From poppy garage tunes to drum & bass club bangers, Kove can produce all over the spectrum. His new EP Murmurations finds him foraying even further. How many dnb producers try their hand at a big room tune? That Ibiza sunshine must have gotten to him.

"VCO," on the other hand, finds him in slightly more familiar territory. It's a garagey bassline track filled to the brim with atmospheric whomp and chopped up vocals. Playing as many hands as Kove does is an ambitious game, but this time he's pulled it off again.
