Charles Oakley is Now Apparently Banned From MSG For Life

Owner James Dolan and his MSG staff have begun an outright PR assault on the former Knicks star.

Well, guys. We're reaching the pinnacle (rock bottom?) of this Charles Oakley melodrama—as if things could get any crazier (more depressing). Because now Oakley is reportedly not allowed into Madison Square Garden from now until infinity. Which is a long-ass time.

In case you're just catching up, former Knicks big man Charles Oakley was arrested after being ejected from the Knicks vs. Clippers game on Wednesday night, where he was spectating just a couple of rows back from Knicks owner James Dolan. (The two have an historic beef.) And the reasons behind Oakley's ejection are still a little murky.

There's a real clusterfuck of information coming out now, because the Knicks have simultaneously fired their Madison Square Garden security chief and released 10 statements—all from Madison Square Garden security—alleging that Oakley was clearly in the wrong. (Then why fire your security chief?) Among the allegations: that Oakley "seemed pretty inebriated"—despite his insistence that he only had a couple of drinks; that he accused security guards of being racist toward him; that he was "antsy … and strange," as well as "very vocal … and extremely pushy." And that at one point (again, according to Dolan's henchmen) Oakley allegedly yelled at guards "all of you suck Dolan's dick." Fair enough.

Either way, The Knicks have come out forcefully against their former player, vowing that Oakley is no longer welcome. Ever.:

Dolan even chimed in with some quizzically vague statements:

That were maybe read from this:

Dolan also accused Oakley of being an alcoholic (Dolan himself is recovering) and said, "We need to keep the Garden safe for anybody who goes there," as if Oakley were a threat to public safety.

Whatever actually went down, fans were mostly on board with Oakley hating on Dolan, as you can see from the fan video above when a chant of, "leave Oakley alone" caught fire. Now there are even shirts trying to exonerate him. Dolan's precondition of hating Oakley, along with his insistence on vagaries, and the lack of corroborating evidence from anyone besides people directly in Dolan's pocket looks a little suspicious to say the least. And with Oakley now banned from MSG, it appears that Dolan won't let us get to see a round two.
