Watch Lorde and Jack Antonoff Cover St. Vincent’s “New York” in New York

Lorde keeps pulling out beautiful covers every damn night, and Brooklyn's cover was a real special one.

Lorde! She’s on a covers rampage! After covering Frank Ocean’s “Solo” in Milwaukee, Kanye West’s “Love Lockdown” in Chicago and Drake’s “Shot For Me” in Toronto, she decided to have a crack at St. Vincent’s Masseduction cut “New York” tonight at Brooklyn’s Barclays Centre. Joined by Jack Antonoff, who produced both Masseduction and Lorde’s Melodrama, the duo stripped away the song’s original Broadway-lite piano, instead choosing to perform it with a delicate acoustic guitar arrangement. They then transitioned into “Hard Feelings,” a Melodrama track. It’s pretty damn beautiful, and you can check out footage below.

St. Vincent, like Lorde, loves covers –– recently she’s shared her own version of Sleater-Kinney’s “Modern Girl” and Rihanna and SZA’s “Consideration.” Lorde has been covering songs by musicians from the cities she’s performing in on each night, so it’s interesting to look at her tour schedule and think about what she might cover next. Will she cover Springsteen in Jersey tomorrow night? Moby when she’s in Connecticut? Fugazi when she’s in DC? Jason Derulo in Miami? Probably not, but Lorde, if you’re listening: It’s my birthday soon and I’d love to know what that Fugazi cover would sound like.
