Currently based in New York, originally hailing from Chicago, Honey Djion has developed a loyal fanbase who are attracted to her strong programming, passion and integrity that she exudes during her memorable sets. Additionally this skill along with her outstanding sense of style has made her New York and London's fashion scene's favourite DJs having headlined the crème de la crème of fashion parties from Opening Ceremony to Givenchy to Hermès just to name a few. Ahead of the much anticipated Australian debut at House of Mince's Super Open Air, we had a quick chat to check what's up and just a little backgrounder info on how she honed her matchless prowess.Hey Honey. Where are you right now?
I just arrived back in NYC after being on a mini tour in europe. I played Lux in Portugal, Panorama Bar in Berlin, Le Gibus in Paris, and Output Back in NYC.How's your producing going these days?
Great! My follow up to my last single "Burn" was just released today. It's called "Thunda", featuring John Mendelsohn, with remixes by Hnny and Terrence Parker. I also have an upcoming release with Seven Davis Jr as well as an EP on Dungeon Meat and Balance.
Berlin and London continually inspire me. Berghain/Panorama bar is still such an amazing club and the city never seems to stop surprising me. I always find amazing music in London and the diversity of the culture there is so rich. I love it there.You grew up in Chicago, a city that has had a profound impact on dance music culture. What have you taken from it?
The majority of my musical education was formed in Chicago. Not just house music, but disco, industrial, jazz, blues, and rock. My parents constantly had played music in our house when I was growing up and Chicago has such a rich musical heritage that it's in my blood. Music is very much part of the fabric of the city.What else has inspired your personal sound?
Life experience really. I was lucky to have been born during a cultural moment which was the birth of house music. Art, gender. Race, sex, the everyday, the unexpected also informs my creativity. I am a Gemini and we are great communicators and always searching for the new and my curiosity about life never wanes.
I am an eclectic DJ so I like to take people on a journey musically. I don't stay in one lane and after having so many amazing nights on the dancefloor. I try to share those memorable moments i had through my sets. Expect the unexpected,come with an open mind, but most of all come to dance.Honey Djion will be performing in Australia this week:

You've been touring a bunch this year around Europe. What's the most inspiring local scene you've played in recently?
