PREMIERE: Eliot Sumner - "I Followed You Home"

And yes, this definitely has obsessive love stalker vibes to it.

When was the last time you went off the deep end for another person? And what lengths did you go to? Once, after an interview with an acclaimed, rather brilliant French director, he confessed that when he was still heartbroken about his ex several months after they'd split and she had already found another boyfriend, he scaled her second story apartment block and broke in. Once inside he scoured the place looking for any trace that he still existed, that he was somehow still present in her life. Eventually at the bottom of the sock drawer he found a stashed picture of the two of them. He let himself out and she was none the wiser.

Pretty creepy stuff, but it's funny how love, or even the fantasy of someone, can spiral off and make normal people behave like loons, which is the subject of Eliot Sumner's song "I Followed You Home." Visually the video splices together candid, on the road clips with live footage. Sonically Sumner's husky tones ride over a tune that wouldn't sound out of place on The Killers' debut Hot Fuss.

“I wrote 'I Followed You Home' with my friend Charlie Fink [Noah and the Whale]—I was going through a chronic writers block and he makes songwriting really easy," she explained. "We had a melody and a fluid progression by lunch time. I took him to my local pub and we were writing lyrics over pints of Bitburger. I’ve always loved 'stalker' themes so we based the song about a love story with a fatal attraction edge to it."

The band recently wrapped a seven week tour of the States before heading out to Europe, so if you live over there, go here to see the full dates, and watch the video below.

Eliot Sumner will released her debut album Information on 01.22 via Cherrytree.
