What It Sounds Like When You Put Sampa the Great in a Radio Studio and Give Her A Mic

Listen to Sampa perform the track “Weoo” from her mind-blowing 'The Great Mixtape' on radio station PBS FM.

Watching the spectacular rise of Sampa the Great has been fun and at times exhausting; we are still recovering our breath from her performance at our Melbourne party earlier this year. Born in Zambia, raised in Botswana, and now based in Sydney, Sampa and her music have the power to make people move.

Melbourne community radio station PBS are celebrating their annual Radio Festival and just shared with us a track from Sampa’s live-to-air performance that was part of the Studio 5 Live series. Sampa took over the Mystic Brew program and kicked a whole lot of funky soul across the airwaves.

Listen to her perform “Weoo”, a track from her mind-blowing The Great Mixtape and give thanks to cool community radio stations such as PBS. With the Federal government set to cut $1.4m funding from community radio it’s now more important than ever to get behind stations such as PBS who support artists like Sampa from the very beginning.

The PBS 106.7FM Radio Festival runs from May 16 – May 29. For more info visit their website. To help keep community radio stay alive, sign this petition.
