The main takeaway from "Rock And Roll Love Affair" is pretty much, "Oh, Prince has new hair now. Cool, I guess?" Still, it's good to see The Purple One back on his game, even if this does sound more than a little bit like "Raspberry Beret." It seems that as he ages, Prince is becoming more and more interested in cementing his place in the canon--"Rock And Roll Love Affair" could be read as quite literally the story of Prince himself. He's already played the Super Bowl, so why does he need to self-mythologize? Because he's Prince and you don't get to ask questions, that's why.
