Do You Want to Watch Rae Sremmurd Ride Dinosaurs That Shoot Lasers? Of Course You Do

Watch the video for "Over Here," featuring BoBo Swae, the latest piece of evidence Rae Sremmurd might be the most important rap group of our time.

People love to get mad about rap—hell, people love to get mad about everything. And, sure, you could choose to live your life this way too, constantly walking around and grumbling about stuff and cursing the youth. Negativity has its upsides, if you're into being a bummer to hang out with and developing stomach ulcers at an early age. But here's the thing: Having fun is, as the name implies, so much more fun. And while you're getting mad, Rae Sremmurd, to paraphrase 2 Chainz, are having a shit ton of fun. You should join them.

Here's what their video for "Over Here," featuring BoBo Swae, has to offer: literal hoverboards shredding a video game halfpipe, Swae Lee in a Mario-style jumper game working his way up to Turnt Level Maximum, and, of course, Rae Sremmurd riding through the desert on chain-wearing dinosaurs that shoot lasers. "Hold up," you may be thinking, "that sounds ridiculous." To which Rae Sremmurd might say, if they weren't too busy turning up in Mike WiLL Made-It's boombox space pod: exactly.

Thank God it's ridiculous! Bless Rae Sremmurd, who made a video that, 20 years from now, people will look back on to point to how weird the 2010s were (even as right now we can watch it and remember how weird the early 2000s, which it's strongly reminiscent of, were). Praise Rae Sremmurd, the rap group who, at a time when everyone else in music is obsessed with wearing all black and proving how artsy they are, are the truest artists of all because they just say "fuck it!" and dress like mascots in a Go-Gurt commercial. Rae Sremmurd are ridiculous, and they know they are ridiculous, and they might be the most important rap group of our time because of it. Embracing absurdity is an art, and they are excelling at it. Rae Sremmurd's music sounds like pretty much nothing else right now, and it is fun as hell. What an accomplishment!

So hop aboard the closest dinosaur. Cue up the laser cannons. Have a party. Rae Sremmurd expect nothing less.
