Watch: VICE Meets Glenn GreenwaldOn Thursday, The Intercept released an extensive, eight-part report called The Drone Papers, exposing the inner workings of the Obama Administration's capture/kill drone missions between 2011 and 2013.The report focuses on secret documents leaked by an anonymous whistleblower, who "decided to provide these documents to The Intercept because he believes the public has a right to understand the process by which people are placed on kill lists and ultimately assassinated on orders from the highest echelons of the US government," according to part one of The Drone Papers.The leaked information alleges that targeted drone strikes are often authorized by President Obama based on "unreliable intelligence," and have led to the deaths of unintended targets, some of whom have been US citizens."If a drone strike kills more than one person, there is no guarantee that those persons deserved their fate," the source said. "It's a phenomenal gamble."When The Intercept reached out to the Defense Department about the documents, an official declined to comment "on the details of classified reports."Read the series in its entirety here.
