Both Irish Teams' Supporters Remain the Best at Euro 2016

There has been an awful lot of news from Euro 2016 about the horrible things that fans are doing to each other. You've got a bunch of extremely drunk people, mixed with some ramped-up nationalist pride, and things unfortunately seem destined to get militant and violent. But thankfully that doesn't always have to be the case, as the wonderful, wonderful fans of Ireland—both Republic of- and Northern- —are demonstrating.

In today's matchup between the Republic of Ireland and Belgium, for example, the Irish fans were up to legendary antics, running a conga line with Belgium fans during halftime with the score at 0-0. The Republic of Ireland would later lose 3-0, but this is what an international tournament should look like.

I mean, this was the scene after the loss:

The Belgians were also seen reciprocating the love with this young Irish fan:

But that old Gaelic charm was by no means limited to today's matches. Here's a medley of the wonderment that Ireland has produced in France:

The above clip is a personal favorite of mine from a week ago. Who is that man on the balcony that all of these Irish fans are cheering on? Is he a former Irish footballer? A French politician? Nicholas Sarkozy, maybe? Nope. Just some random-ass French guy.

And here's Northern Ireland's former footballer Keith Gillespie was treated to a dip in the crowd surf:

The below clip shows a few Northern Ireland fans calling up an emergency line to report that striker Will Grigg's on fire. Seems like fun at the time, but in retrospect, maybe not the best to tie up services in case, you know, someone is actually on fire.

Ireland fans weren't totally outside the radius of violence, but it seems that they bridged support for their opponents anyway:

And perhaps the crowning moment of peak Irishness: Northern Ireland fans and Republic of Ireland fans coming together—despite some historic, ahem, tensions—to sing some known songs.
