Nevada-bred chart perennials The Killers have announced their first album in five years. The follow-up to 2012's Battle Born doesn't have a release date yet, but the band did confirm that it will be called Wonderful Wonderful. They shared an irritatingly short clip of the album's lead single "The Man," but thankfully Annie Mac played the track out on her BBC 1 Radio show in the UK earlier, alongside an interview with frontman Brandon Flowers. That's available in full at the bottom of the page."Sonically, it's pretty funky, funkier than anything we've ever done before," Flowers said of Wonderful Wonderful. "I do hear things, though, that remind me of quintessential Killers things. That starts with Mark Stoermer's bassline… he has a prominent feature on this song, and this is what he's really great at."Flowers also spoke about the pros and cons of bringing the band back together after such a long break between records. "It's good to have a little bit of a break," he said. "We're in such close proximity when we're on the road. But I think it's refreshing and it's good for everybody.The 35-year-old added that the process of getting everyone in the same room for the record was "tough[…] When we first started nobody had families or any kinds of bills or anything like that and we just went to Ronnie's garage every day. Maybe we waited for somebody to get off work, but it was easy. Now it's pretty difficult to get people's schedules, there's a lot of maneuvering."He added that writing was always tough after such a long break, and used possibly the most Nevadan turn of phrase possible to get the point across. "If we have a gig in Bogota in a few days, we'll get together and rehearse a little bit," he said. "That clicks, that falls into place. That's as natural to us as slot machines in the laundromat. That's it. But writing together, you're waiting for lightning to strike."The album was produced by longtime Killers collaborator Stuart Price alongside Jackknife Lee, best known for his work with U2, REM, Taylor Swift, One Direction, and Silversun Pickups.
