Well ain't that some shit? In the Central Massachusetts Division 3 boys' golf tournament on Tuesday, high school junior Emily Nash smoked the competition and won out by four shots. Yes, Emily is a girl who was allowed to play in the tournament. But she was denied the trophy from officials, according to Worcester's Telegram.Nash shot a 75, including a 20-foot birdie putt on a par-3, at Blissful Meadows to beat out a whole batch of dudes. And yet she was denied an official victory because of some blustery, bean-counting officials enforcing some straight-up sexist, red-tape rules.According to the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association, per the Telegram:

Basically, her score only counted toward her team's total, which wasn't good enough to qualify for the state tournament. Good job, boys.Two somewhat redeeming things happened in the wake of this pretty insane injustice. One, the runner up who won solely because of his chromosome arrangement, offered up the trophy to Nash. That was a pretty kind thing to do. But because Nash is clearly a badass, she declined.The other kinda nice thing is that one of the officials who actually enforced the rules, the tournament director Kevin Riordan, said that he plans to personally buy Nash a trophy of her own. A sheepish attempt to right things, but an attempt nevertheless. The real prize, Kevin, would be to not have to go through this BS in the first place."Girls playing on a fall boys' team cannot be entered in the Boys Fall Individual Tournament. They can only play in the Boys Team Tournament. If qualified, they can play in the spring Girls Sectional and State Championships."
