Vince Staples' Video for "Big Fish" Is an Abstract Take on 'Jaws'

There is a literal big fish in this.

Vince Staples has been on a sea-based movie wave (pun 200% not intended) lately, naming his recent tour after The Life Aquatic and possibly titling his upcoming album Big Fish Project after that one film where Ewan McGregor goes on a magical adventure (no, not the Star Wars prequels). The sort-of title track from said album has now come out in both audio and visual, form because Staples does everything multimedia, and it also maybe is paying homage to seafaring films of years past.

The song's a classic Staples slammer in the mold of "Senorita," right down to the use of a stray line from another song in lieu of a hook. The video, though, is a weird, despondent mood piece that features Staples stranded in the middle of shark-infested waters on a sinking yacht. A giant goldfish appears out of nowhere, too. You can watch the "Big Fish" video above.

Phil could've pulled out some wild 'Life of Pi' references, too. He's on Twitter.__
