A Year of Lil Wayne: John Legend Is Awesome, Exhibit A

Is there anything John Legend can't do?

Day 167: "So Special" feat. John Legend – Tha Carter IV , 2011

I'm working on some theories about John Legend, the most universally likable musician in the world right now. He's the modern Frank Sinatra and the husband of America's most beloved supermodel cookbook author, Chrissy Teigen. In fact, their relationship is the subject of not one but TWO Buzzfeed listicles and many a viral relationship "goals" tweet. He played at Kanye West and Kim Kardashian's wedding! Plus he's the only person who can claim those types of distinctions who has also appeared on multiple DJ Khaled songs. You can call on him for basically anything: In the past two months, John Legend has played at the Grammys, the Oscars, and the NBA All-Star Game, and, as far as I know, he won an MVP award at all of them. I'm still fleshing out my full argument as to why John Legend might just be the GOAT, but for now I'm searching for evidence and finding a fuck ton of it.

Exhibit A is the fact that he made this song with Lil Wayne, in which Wayne raps such gems as "just sit on my grill, that's that tailgate for ya" and "when we finish, I swear that pussy said thank you / I said, "you're very welcome," I'm so well mannered / and I go down south, Louisiana." Honestly, there's not much more to say other than John Legend even inspires Lil Wayne to think long-term about his relationships. Wayne ends his final verse, "See we don't even fuck no more, we make love / and now she's on the tip of my tongue, my taste buds / 'cause she my honey bee, yeah, buzz buzz / and now I'm itching and scratching, that's that love bug." So shouts out to John Legend, a man who can make anyone a better person.
