Joe Mixon and Amelia Molitor settled a civil suit Molitor had filed related to the incident in 2014 when Mixon punched her in the face at a sandwich shop near the Oklahoma campus. The two also released a joint statement about the matter, which you can read above.Molitor says the two of them were able to speak privately, without their attorneys present, and "I greatly appreciate his apology and I think the feelings he expressed were sincere." Mixon reiterated that the actions caught on camera that evening were not him. "That's not the way I was raised," he said. Molitor also said she was happy to be moving on with her life and did not intend to speak about this anymore.Coincidentally, this could not have come at a better time for Mixon! The NFL draft is less than a week away and the idea of drafting Mixon has received considerable blowback across the league. He wasn't even invited to the combine. Many teams simply don't want to deal with the scrutiny that comes with drafting a guy who broke a woman's jaw and caused multiple facial fractures—on camera. Bob McGinn, of the Journal-Sentinel polled 11 NFL executives, six of whom said they were straight up not drafting him under any circumstances.Mixon is a first-round talent, though, and one of those polled did say he'd select him in the first round.
