Vince Young is back.

Not in the NFL, but he is playing football again. He signed with the Skatchua Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL on Thursday. For proof, watch the awkward announcement above. He's all about hugs.

It's a new world for Young. He hasn't played in an NFL game since 2011 when he threw nine picks in six games for the Eagles. By then, it seemed his career was a dud. He had been a star at Texas. Won a national title. Was drafted third overall. Then it all kind of spiraled away. Last January, he was arrested for driving while intoxicated and pleaded no contest.

But Young says he was never out of the game.

"I still definitely love the game," Young told the Houston Chronicle. "I miss it a whole lot. The retirement deal, it happened. I didn't officially say I was retired. I got away from the game to clean up a bunch of stuff off the field. All that came to light and I'm doing really good."

This latest move is an unusual one. Young was already working in fundraising at the University of Texas and has a life set up in Austin, with a family and kids. But football is calling, and now he's going to move 1,700 miles north.

"I wish I knew back then what I know now," Young said. "I was a little immature about things, but things happen for a reason. You learn from your mistakes. I'm happy and I'm going to take full advantage of this opportunity."

At least he didn't sign with the Mets.
