Former Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos Has Reportedly Joined the Dodgers' Front Office

Anthopoulos has found a new home months after helping Toronto snap the longest postseason drought in baseball.

Alex Anthopolous has reportedly found a new home months after stunningly leaving the Blue Jays following the club's first postseason appearance in 22 years.

Toronto's former general manager, whose shrewd and bold moves helped propel the team to a 2015 American League East title, has accepted a front-office role with the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to ESPN. It's unclear what position the 38-year-old will assume, but he'll be joining a front office that's undergone a significant makeover in recent years and will work alongside fellow Canadian Farhan Zaidi, Los Angeles' GM.

Anthopoulos, who served as Toronto's GM since the end of the 2009 season, walked away from the Blue Jays after rejecting a five-year offer from the club in October. The surprising move came shortly after long-time president and CEO Paul Beeston was officially replaced by Mark Shapiro, who joined the Blue Jays after spending over 20 years with the Cleveland Indians.

Anthopoulos, who had been with the organization for more than a decade as a scouting director and assistant GM before taking over the GM role from J.P. Ricciardi, was named the Sporting News executive of the year and won a number of Canadian-specific awards for his work in turning the Blue Jays around. In less than a year's time, he made blockbuster deals for All-Stars Josh Donaldson, David Price and Troy Tulowitzki, while signing Russell Martin to the richest free-agent contract in team history.

Toronto went 93-69, reaching the playoffs for the first time since winning the second of back-to-back World Series titles in 1993, before getting knocked out by the Royals in Game 6 of the ALCS.
