Dallas Shooter Was Plotting Larger Attacks
Micah Johnson, the man who shot and killed five Dallas police officers and wounded seven more, was planning larger attacks, police believe. Dallas police chief David Brown said police found bomb-making materials at the shooter's home that suggested he had been practicing detonations and had "other plans" for violence.—CNN

Weekend Protests in Baton Rouge Lead to 160 Arrests
Dozens were arrested in Louisiana on Sunday night as protests continued in Baton Rouge following the police killing of Alton Sterling. At least 48 people had been taken into custody by midnight Sunday, bringing the weekend arrest total in the city to more than 160. DeRay Mckesson, a prominent Black Lives Matter activist arrested Saturday, was freed Sunday.—CBC News

Anti-Trump Delegates Want to Choose VP
Anti-Trump Republicans are planning to give delegates the power to pick the vice presidential candidate at next week's convention in Cleveland. The UN Security Council has demanded warring factions cease fighting in the South Sudan capital of Juba, and called for more peacekeepers to be sent to the African nation. At least 272 people have died since fighting broke out between rival military factions on Thursday. —Al Jazeera

Policeman Drowned as Violence in Kashmir Continues
An Indian policeman drowned after an angry crowd of Kashmir separatists pushed his car into a river. At least 23 people have died in clashes in Kashmir, a Muslim-majority territory, since the 22-year-old separatist leader Burhan Wani died in a gunfight with the Indian army on Friday. —The Times of India

Japanese Prime Minister Wants to Drop Pacifist Constitution
