Listen to a New Song from Dead Bars (ex-Big Eyes)

This is what happens when two drummers start a band.

Normally, it’s a terrible idea for two drummers to start a band together. Too much talk of fills and backbeats and not enough about riffs, ya know? But Dead Bars are the exception. The two drummers, John Maiello and C.J. Frederick (ex-Big Eyes), met in Seattle and John heroically stepped away from the kit to start a new band. Here, let him tell you about his wonderfully simplistic approach to playing guitar:

"I don't really know how to play guitar. I remember reading about how the Ramones wrote 'Blitzkrieg Bop' in a couple hours on a guitar with two strings and I thought to myself, 'I could probably do that."

Coincidentally, that’s also how 45,000 punk bands started between 1976 through today. Dead Bars are working on some records to be released via No Idea, including a split with Sunshine State (featuring Warren Oakes—you know, Against Me!’s old drummer, the one with the beard). You can check out a preview song below. Recommended for fans of bands like Dear Landlord and Iron Chic and other throaty punk bands who sing about not having any money and being romantically inept.
