Monomyth's Debut Album Makes You Forget About Your Frizzy Hair and Sadness

Stream Saturnalia Regalia! in full, out July 22.

There's nothing better than hearing a song that you have never heard before and then learning about an entirely new band who has, like, four great albums that you can jam out to for the next six months until you hate said band so much because they remind you of kissing your ex or getting in a fight with your best friend or that time you maybe had too much to drink and tripped in front of your crush. Whatever the reason, you still spent a blissful period of your life in love with this band—and it all comes back to that one song. There comes a point in time during the year when its harder to have moments like these, somewhere in the middle of the summer when the excitement over wearing minimal clothing and listening to dream-pop OMG turns into a deeply rooted hatred for humidity and your hair is frizzy and you don't even want to listen to music.

Luckily, this won't happen with Monomyth, who've already won us over with their debut album, Saturnalia Regalia! out July 22 via Mint Records, which Noisey is now streaming below. The four-piece (originally hailing from Halifax, Canada) have some Guided By Voices vibes going on, at times sounding like a shoegazey version of The Monkees (which is all I could really ever want in a band). Monomyth thinks "its important to make pop music thats a little fucked up because otherwise it's just pop music." Cheers.
