The Newtown Sessions - Wampire

A performance from Wampire, a Portland-based indie/goth/horror duo we caught wind of earlier this year after they rolled out a shit-kicker of a seven-inch through Polyvinyl.

The Newtown Sessions is a new bi-weekly in-studio series, brought to Noisey by our friends over at Newtown Radio, the Brooklyn-based online radio station.

We discovered Wampire, the Portland-based indie/goth/horror outfit, earlier this year when they rolled out a remarkable seven-inch entitled, The Hearse, on Polyvinyl, which included a colorful re-working of Kraftwerk's "Das Model" as a b-side. It was a giant leap for a relatively obscure band. Following the release of that seven-inch, Wampire is getting set to drop a nine song LP called Curiosity. That'll hit racks on May 14 via Polyvinyl.

We were lucky to have Wampire play a set of new songs from Curiosity in Brooklyn, just as they were wrapping a US tour with Foxygen and Unknown Mortal Orchestra. Watch as Wampire performs, "Can't See Why," and "Giants."
