The British just do things differently. Unsurprisingly, this trend continues well into the depths of the UK festival scene and herein lies Bestival.
THUMP is giving away two GA wristbands for the whole weekend! To enter, send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org with your full name, address, and phone number. The contest closes on June 8.
Since its debut in 2004, the eccentrically decorated festival has been in the spotlight for it's outrageous costumes and top-class musical performances. This year, Bestival is taking the trip across the pond for its inaugural international edition, launching on Toronto Island at Hanlan's Point on June 12 and 13.
"There's something about dressing up and letting your hair down that seems to make people drop their guard and just escape for a while," says Bestival curator Rob da Bank. "It's about wearing something you wouldn't wear anywhere else, but kind of want to anyway! Equally if it's not your thing come as you are....just come."
Bestival will feature performances by hip-hop icon, Nas, and long-time Bestival fancy dress experts, Florence and The Machine, along with Canada's own electronic ambassador Caribou among countless others. It is sure to be one for the books.
You can buy tickets to Bestival here, or at Rotate This, Soundscapes, and Tiny Record Shop.
