Take "The Body" To The Bedroom with Ikaz Boi's New Remix

This rendition of Wale and Jeremih's carnal track will get your blood flowing.

A lot of today's trap hits seem purposed for a few distinct functions.

The first, of course, is club play. The kind of trap track that has the ability to construct dance floor destruction and those bass-y feels. The second is radio play; where you find the track slithering through your ear cavity from car speakers and SportsChek locations everywhere. The third, and perhaps the most appropriate, is the bedroom. This is your very own VIP area, where faux drum playing on your bedside table gets down and—dare we say—dirty.

But this third context has nothing to do with the gloss and sheen of today's 808 musings. Metaphorically put, naked bodies are never totally smooth, everyone has texture.

Ikaz Boi's new interpretation of Wale and Jeremih's "The Body" acknowledges this fact and puts it to work. More like Lapalux than RL Grime, Ikaz endows all his beats with a grainy integrity, without ever sacrificing melody and low-end impact. Instead of building up a moment, Ikaz tends to paint landscapes with his tunes. Look out for more from this young riser; he's working hard to deliver his message.
