Vlad Guerrero Jr. Hits Emotional Walk-Off Homer in Montreal with Dad in Attendance

Please hook all the Vladdy Jr. walk-off dingers directly into my veins and never remove the IV.

In a (very) rare MLB preseason moment worth celebrating, top Blue Jays prospect—and future mayor of Toronto/prime minister of Canada/leader of the Free World—Vlad Guerrero Jr. capped off the team's spring with a walk-off blast in the bottom of the ninth to give the Jays a 1-0 win in their final tune-up game at Olympic Stadium in Montreal.

Stepping into the same batter's box his dad owned thousands of times during his eight-year stint with the Montreal Expos and wearing Vlad Sr.'s No. 27, Guerrero Jr. sent the crowd at the Big O into an absolute frenzy as he demolished a hanger off Cardinals reliever Jack Flaherty to deliver a storybook ending that will, exhibition or not, go down as one memorable-ass moment for him, no matter how many accolades the future star racks up.

Same number, same stadium, same swing, he was out there looking just like dad.

After trotting the bases presumably cool as a goddamn cucumber following what had to be an emotional and probably shocking moment for the 19-year-old, the real emotion spilled over as Guerrero Jr. tossed his bucket on his way to a hero's welcome at home plate where the boys celebrated like they just won a damn pennant—and rightfully so.

All things considered—the stadium, the atmosphere, the situation, the timing—it's hard to imagine a more perfect way for spring training to end, and for the Vlad Jr. era to begin (though he's starting in the minor leagues and we might not see him in The Show until later on in the season).

Guerrero, alongside fellow top infield prospect Bo Bichette (whose reaction was almost as good as the homer), will man the left side of the infield in Toronto for years to come if all goes according to plan, and Blue Jays fans couldn’t be more giddy. Vlad Jr., ranked No. 3 in this year's MLB.com prospect rankings, while Bichette ranked No. 13.

Though the team's rotation heading in 2018 is one of the best in baseball, a lot of questions surrounding the club's offense, the future of pending free agent Josh Donaldson, and a potential rebuild, will likely linger for a good chunk of the campaign. With the franchise in a limbo of sorts paired with the re-emergence of the AL East as a murderous division once again, there may not be a whole lot of things for Blue Jays fans to get excited for this summer.

But we'll always have Vladdy Jr. dingers at the Big O in March.
