my.head's "Abyss" Video Will Help You Accept Your Loneliness

The track is part of the French producer's new album, 'Abyss of an Excessive Void.'

French producer my.head dropped his new album, Abyss of an Excessive Void, on Kastle's Symbols label last Friday. The LP, according to a press release, was inspired by spatial-temporal phenomena and metaphysics.

Among its cluster of spaced-out instrumentals is "Abyss," the lone vocal-led track featuring Norwegian vocalist/producer Ida Dillan, whose syrupy vocals, atop a bare sonic palette of crystalline layer of hi-hats and looming, ethereal synths, seem to slow down time. Its accompanying music video is similarly minimal and muted, stringing together swirling, slow-motion images of floating white specks and colored liquids. It's a dark, yet strangely serene, and maybe even a little comforting track.

"The title 'Abyss' and the video refers to water and the duality of sea and space," my.head told THUMP over email. "It's all about silence, loneliness, and the bliss and fear that comes with it. The will to be alone and the anxiety of being lonely. Like space at the quantum level, it can be a paradox."
