Every iconic film comes with its own sound. All of the greats have a tone, a feeling of sorts, rushing through the threads of moving image and collating them into a tapestry that becomes greater than the sum of its parts. "For Trainspotting it was Underworld's 'Born Slippy'," says Danny Boyle, the director of the 1996 film. "For T2 it's Young Fathers. Their songs are the heartbeat of the film".In many ways the Mercury Prize-winning band are the perfect accompaniment to a film set in the blissful nothingness of Scotland's capital city. For a start, they're from Edinburgh. For seconds, they've met with Trainspotting's author, Irvine Welsh. Ultimately though, gospel-led "Only God Knows" captures the beautiful loneliness and thundering expeditions one can imagine will be carried through the sequel to Trainspotting. The band have six tracks on the soundtrack - and this is the first one. Listen below and feel it run inside.
