David Silva Sets up Spain Goal with Delicious Pass

David Silva set up Spain's goal with a pretty pass through the Croatian defense.

Spain opened up scoring early today against Croatia at Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux with a lovely pass that set up a bit of a sheepish goal for Álvaro Morata. Spain quickly went up the length of the pitch in the seventh minute and a Croatian deflection sent the ball in the path of David Silva, who then started weaving to the middle of the pitch. As he centered himself, he slid the ball back against his momentum and right through four Croatian defenders. He timed it perfectly right into the run of Cesc Fàbregas at the corner of the goal box.

Fàbregas chipped the shot over the diving keeper and it looked like he was going to get the goal, but another Croatian defender was bearing down from behind, so Morata tapped it in at the last second.

Croatia equalized in the last minute of the half a flying backheel flick from Nikola Kalinić. Group D is still up for grabs, but Croatia need a win today to win it.
