Radek Faksa Avoids Hip Check with Mesmerizing Move Before Burying Goal

We could watch this all day.

The Dallas Stars equipment staff may have went a little heavy on the vaseline on Thursday.

Upon gaining speed and entering the Islanders zone, Stars forward Radek Faksa appeared to be running out of real estate as New York defenceman Scott Mayfield closed the gap and and tried to lay a sloppy hip check on the 23-year-old. Rather than accepting his impending doom, Faksa improvised with his life on the line and took the path less travelled, er, never travelled.

Using his momentum and generating a quick leap while on the move, Faksa slid right along the edge of the Stars bench on his slippery backside, kicked the puck back to his stick, and made a cross-ice pass before finding himself all alone in front of the Isles net, where he promptly buried his ninth goal of the year—and definitely the most devious.

The creative effort by Faksa, in his second full NHL season, put Dalls up 2-1 in the second period, and was a lone bright spot in yet another blown lead for the Stars, as they went on to surrender three goals in the third period to gift the Islanders a 5-4 win.

The Stars have been simply atrocious this season after reaching the 50-win mark last year and finishing second overall in the regular season with 109 points. Through 64 games, Dallas is second last in a flailing Pacific Division and, if it wasn't for the tire-fire known as the 2016-17 Colorado Avalanche, the club would've gone from first to worst in less than 12 months.

Not a great time for the Stars organization, but at least they can now nominate one of their own as a top contender for the flashiest offensive-zone entry of all time. Baby steps, right?
