John Tortorella Delivers Riveting Presser After Blowout Loss

For once in his life, Torts actually had nothing to say. It was still great.

John Tortorella isn't mad. He's just, you know, a little disappointed.

After Torts' Columbus Blue Jackets were demolished 7-2 in a blowout loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday, reporters waited patiently to hear one of the game's most outspoken personalities chime in on his team's effort. Instead of the typical rant on his club's lack of grit, shitty puck movement or inability to score, Torts, for once in his life, actually had nothing to say.

Now, in case you're a little scarce for time and don't have a chance to watch the approximately 10.5-second long soliloquy, I put in the hours of hard work required to transcribe this marathon presser for you.

"I know you have a job to do, but I'm not answering any questions tonight. There's no sense of me even trying to answer questions about this evening, OK? So, sorry about that. Have a good night."

Despite the five-goal loss to the Oilers, who have dealt with struggles of their own this season to say the least, the Blue Jackets are still sitting pretty in the NHL's best division. Columbus is tied with the Capitals for the top spot in the Metropolitan with a 19-11-1 record through 31 games.

If no hardware, championships or milestones come the Blue Jackets' way this season, at least they'll always have this endearing Torts press conference to look back on, which—though it's no Stanley Cup—has to be worth something.
