Middle School Teacher Arrested for Trafficking Coke in Hells Angels Drug Bust

A New Brunswick middle school teacher has been charged with trafficking cocaine as part of a drug ring allegedly connected to the Hells Angels.

According to the Canadian Press, Julie Michaud, 35, who teaches Grade 7 and 8 students at Place-des-Jeunes School in Bathurst, New Brunswick has been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, money laundering the proceeds of crime, and several other crimes. Michaud was arrested as part of a cross-provincial RCMP sting called Operation J-Thunder that focused on Quebec-based Hells Angels drug trafficking rings.

Police allege drugs from Quebec were being sold along the Acadian Peninsula and in Restigouche, Madawaska and Victoria counties.

The year-and-a-half long investigation saw nine people from New Brunswick arrested, as well as dozens of arrests in Quebec as a result of police raids. Those arrested in New Brunswick are not believed to be members of the biker gang, the CBC reports.

A spokesperson for Place-des-Jeunes School told the Canadian Press students and teachers were being offered support services in light of Michaud’s arrest. Michaud teaches French at the school.

Cops seized roughly $900,000 and 5.5 kilograms of cocaine through the New Brunswick bust, and confiscated coke, meth, guns, and $2.5 million cash through the Quebec raids.
