On Wednesday, principal deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders will host her second White House press briefing at 1:30 PM, just a day after Trump decided to abruptly fire FBI director James Comey.The press will likely have a whole host of questions for Sanders about the president's decision, considering Comey was in the middle of leading an investigation into whether or not Trump's campaign colluded with Russia during the election. In a letter released on Tuesday, Trump said the director was no longer "able to effectively lead the bureau," apparently because of the way he handled Hillary Clinton's email scandal—something many Democrats (and Clinton herself) believe cost her the election.

In the letter, Trump also makes sure to thank Comey for informing him "on three separate occasions, that I am not under investigation." While Trump himself might not be under FBI investigation, back in March, Comey said publicly that the agency was investigating "any links between individuals associated with the Trump campaign and the Russian government."Many Trump supporters, like Sanders, say that the decision was a long time coming. On Tuesday night, the spokeswoman went on FOX News to say that Comey had "lost the confidence of the rank and file within the FBI."Now Trump will be tasked with naming a new FBI director, likely before the end of the week, the New York Times reports. As for the ongoing Russia probe, top Democrats have called for a special prosecutor to take over that investigation."The only way the American people can have faith in this investigation is for it to be led by a fearless, independent special prosecutor," Senate minority leader, Chuck Schumer, said Tuesday.You can watch the White House press briefing at 1:30 PM via the livestream above.
