Jimmy Edgar's Given Up and Coming Duo RIVRS a Wet and Weepy Re-Rub

The Charli XCX co-signed signed double act's "Friend Lover" is a bit of blissfully bruised black and white electropop.

Now, you might not know a huge amount about London based dup RIVRS right now, but we reckon that's set to change in the near future. Recently signed to Charli XCX's Vroom Vroom label, Charlotte and Fin make the kind of gauzy electropop that sounds simultaneously beamed straight out of 1986 and fresh out of 2016. Which is never a bad thing. Tracks like the Kitsune released "Last Love" sound like the kind of thing you could quite happily shop to in American Apparel. Which, again, is never a bad thing. They sell really good quality plain t-shirts in there.

Anyway, new single "Friend Lover" is a blissfully bruised bit of black and white mope-pop, and we've been listening to it on those long dark nights of the soul when we want to remember what being a teenager felt like all over again. Because apparently we didn't get our full fill of awkwardness and misplaced romanticism the first time round.

Now, if you read THUMP you'll know that we're always up for a good old fashioned bit of sadlad dancefloor action, so we're thanking the stars above right now because renaissance man Jimmy Edgar has decided to dunk his head down in the RIVR to turn "Friend Lover" into the kind of star-spangled tearjerker that you'll be desperate to hear next time you spot someone you used to fancy in sixth-form down the club. You can check it out exclusively here on THUMP below. Enjoy!
