A woman stunt driver working on the set of Deadpool 2 died early this morning after losing control of a motorcycle and crashing into a Vancouver office building.

The fatal accident happened in a highly trafficked section of the city's downtown waterfront. Vancouver police have confirmed the performer died on set, but have not released the woman's name.

A witness told Global News the performer was standing on the bike as it flew through the air before slamming into a window. "It was so out-of-control, it looked like an accident," the witness told Global.

Another witness watching from the office tower above told CBC the accident happened in a "split second." "She was going full throttle, and then there was a building there," Nathan Kramchynski said.

A Starbucks barista working in the Shaw building told VICE he and his colleagues heard the crash, but had their backs to the windows when the accident happened.

According to Deadline, it was the motocross expert's first film. The scene required that she not wear a helmet.

"We are deeply saddened by the accident that occurred on the set of Deadpool 2 this morning," 20th Century Fox spokesman told Deadline. "Our hearts and prayers are with the family, friends and colleagues of our crew member during this difficult time."

By noon, dark plastic partially covered the Starbucks window where the accident happened, and police pylons surrounded the motorcycle.

Deadpool 2 has been shooting in various parts of Vancouver since June, employing dozens of stunt workers. Worksafe BC is investigating the incident, according to a police statement.

It's the second death of a stunt person on a high-profile gig in recent months. In July, John Bernecker, 33, died in a fall while shooting The Walking Dead in Georgia.
