T-Pain Takes the Iron Throne in the Goofy New Promo for 'Game of Thrones'

HBO is staying brutally tight-lipped about the upcoming final season of Game of Thrones. We're only a few months away from the season eight premiere, but we still haven't gotten a proper trailer. The teasers so far have just been supercuts of clips from old seasons—the closest we've come to seeing footage from the new episodes is that shitty fan-made clip from the set.

On Wednesday, HBO released a new teaser to promote the upcoming season, and while it still doesn't give us even a brief glimpse of that 55-day battle or the return of Ghost, it does give us a look at something almost as good: namely, T-Pain lounging on the Iron Throne with a big-ass sword. Oh, and Jimmy Kimmel is there, too.

Why, you ask? Who knows!

The minute-long clip gathers a whole bunch of famous Game of Thrones superfans—T-Pain, Kimmel, Kristin Chenoweth, and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers—to gush about how excited they are for the new season. Celebrities—they're just like us!

According to the video, T-Pain and the rest of the gang just started a massive GoT binge to get ready for the return to Westeros, and there will be more videos featuring the celebrities rolling out this week. The whole thing is a joint production between HBO and Twitter, so there are a lot of mentions of the hashtag #ForTheThrone, and T-Pain sings "Twitters, open Twitters" to the tune of the theme song, for some inexplicable reason. Sure, it's not the kind of trailer that we all desperately want—but it is supremely weird, and at this point, we'll take whatever Game of Thrones content we can get.

The new season of GoT is set to drop this April, but in the meantime, there's apparently a video of T-Pain remixing the show's theme coming this week, so, uh, that's something, at least?
