DJ Paypal Doesn't Wash His Pants

DJ Paypal, S-Type, P. Morris and other Folie Douce affiliates come clean with juicy confessions.

A Google search of "Folie Douce" yields a deluge of links related to the world's most bougie winter sport, skiing. But don't get it twisted—the masterminds behind the Belgian record label of the same name don't partake in the country's frosty pastime. "We have nothing to do with [those sites]," crew member Dragon Eliott assured us. "In fact, we don't even like snow." Instead of waking up early to carve fresh tracks on the mountains, Eliott and his cohorts devote their time to seeking out rising talent from abroad. The label/art collective was the first to book artists like Ryan Hemsworth, Obey City, and Lapalux in Belgium, and their parties sound straight-up epic: one of them took place on "a tower in the middle of the Ardennes [mountains]," and another involved Eclaire Fifi, a lake, hot tubs, and pedalboats.

Of course, now it's too cold to throw outdoor parties. Thankfully, Folie Douce has prepared a tempting alternative to leaving the house: next week, the imprint will release a 9-track compilation for free. Cold Confessions features cuts and edits from Folie Douce favorites from around the world, like Druid Cloak, DJ Paypal, and P. Morris (the artist formerly known as Night Slugs affiliate Morri$). We managed to elicit a few confessions from everyone involved in the project and snagged a track from DJ Paypal before Cold Confessions drops in full on February 3.

"Four years ago, me and some friends [who played together as Jet Set] were asked to take part in the very first Boiler Room, but we turned it down. the music we made was about being jet set, that whole lifestyle, and it didn't really fit with being [broadcast] on a webcam in an actual boiler room."
