Ellen Page Dies Over and Over Again in the New 'Flatliners' Trailer

The remake of Joel Schumacher's 1990 sci-fi film is coming to theaters September 29.

The trailer for Niels Arden Oplev's Flatliners remake is here, and it fits right in alongside The OA, The Discovery, and the slew of other shows and films where science-y people wear funny things on their heads and study the afterlife.

The original 1990 Flatliners was a pre-Batman Joel Schumacher movie about Kiefer Sutherland and Julia Roberts as med students who induce near-death experiences to study the afterlife. The movie was a dumb, reasonably entertaining thriller that didn't particularly scream out for reboot resurrection. But this being 2017 and Hollywood being the way it is, a brand-new Flatliners is coming whether we wanted it or not.

The new Flatliners stars VICELAND's GAYCATION host Ellen Page and Rogue One's Diego Luna as the medical students killing themselves for science and even features Kiefer Sutherland, reprising his role from the original film (so we're technically in sequel territory, for those of you keeping score at home).

From the look of the trailer, the movie follows the basic premise of the original, but Oplev—who directed that non-Fincher Girl with the Dragon Tattoo—is bringing his own visual style to the whole thing.

Give the trailer a watch above and catch Flatliners in theaters on September 29.
