Kim Jong Un and his wife, Ri Sol Ju, joined a crowd of spectators in Pyongyang to watch a South Korean K-Pop performance on Sunday. It’s the first time in a decade that a North Korean leader has attended a South Korean K-Pop concert in the north.
Korean state media said the reclusive leader of North Korea came away impressed. “He said that he was deeply moved to see our people sincerely acclaiming the performance, deepening the understanding of the popular art of the South’s side,” KCNA said
The event is the latest showing of cooperation between the two rival nations, which started when North Korea participated in the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea. North Korea has also been in talks with the U.S. in recent months. Kim is set to meet with President Donald Trump in May, which would make Trump the first sitting president to meet with a North Korean leader.
